Summer Glovin' with Villegas
By KAYLAN ENGE
Fifteen-year-old sophomore Austin Villegas is a student who attends REV. He was caught on video performing his unique style of dancing at Summerfest. When interviewed, Villegas explained that this is called gloving. As he stated, it is “not really a dance, but it’s called gloving. People use it at raves when they have LED lights and they do... some crazy moves with their hands....” He talked about the glover who inspired him, named Gummy Glover, whom he found on youtube. Villegas is also self taught. “Actually I watched a lot of videos, but I learned everything on my own. I picked it up from different glovers and just practiced a lot.” |

Suicide Squad Entertains
By CAROLINA SANCHEZ
“Suicide Squad” is based on the comic book series by the same name. The story follows a group of classic DC villains that have been kidnapped or blackmailed into doing the government’s controversial work and “if they get caught, we throw 'em under the bus.” The group is lead by the menacing Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, and includes Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), and their on-the-ground leader, Rick Flag, who is played by Joel Kinnaman. Together they, like in most hero movies, fight a witch (Cara Delevingne) who is trying to take over the world. The cliche plot is made unique because it is accompanied by music that ranges from Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody to Rick James' Super Freak by. From the beginning music plays a huge role. Each main character receives their own song that sets the mood for the character and in itself tells another story. Each main character is fully fleshed and heart-warming, but if they were not played by an A-list actor it was hard to get attached to them... |

Stranger Things Delivers Tenfold
By MAYA SANCHEZ
Netflix has been hitting it big. This year alone has brought an onslaught of new material: Fuller House, House of Cards, Daredevil, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Grace and Frankie, Voltron: Legendary Defenders, Orange is the New Black, The Get Down, just to name a few. But the standout show, hands down, is "Stranger Things". A quick google search will show how this one show has quickly taken over the media. Created by the Duffer Brothers, whose works include the drama-horror film "Hidden" (2015) and four episodes of the show Wayward Pines (2015), Stranger Things is supernatural thriller set in 1983 that follows the story of a missing boy and the oddities surrounding his disappearance. To stay Stranger Things grabs your attention would be misleading. "Stranger Things" does not solely get your attention, it demands it. The key to any interesting story is its character, and "Stranger Things" delivers tenfold. The majority of the cast is kids, which isn’t something that is seen very often in the horror genre. Millie Bobby Brown takes the show with her portrayal Eleven, a psychokinetic girl that has lived her whole life in a laboratory... |
