REV's Band Shows TalentBY KAYLAN ENGE
This year the Redlands East Valley Marching Wildcats have been hard at work for their 2016-17 season where they will be performing their show In the Heights. Their show is based on the broadway musical of the same name by Lin-Manuel Miranda and features songs such as Sunrise, It Won’t Be Long Now, The Club, and When You’re Home. Head band drum major Dorie Cranfill has stated that this year’s group is “more motivated but needs work” and that they are “very good players” Others in the group such as Leslie Garcia has said that they are “looking forward to the outcome because [they] have had a good start” and that if they “stay consistent with [their] work [they] will go far.” When asking Visual caption head instructor Brayan Rubio... |
REV Cross Country Takes on WoodbridgeCAITLIN MILLER
The Woodbridge Cross Country Classic, hosted by Woodbridge High School, has been a notable invitational for years that draws some of the best high school runners from all across the country. This year, the meet was hosted over the course of Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17 and had a very large turnout. The invitational consisted of the normal varsity, junior varsity, senior, junior (and so on) races, as well as ‘rated’ and then ‘sweepstakes’ races for top-level athletes looking for some competition. Luis Grijalva of Armijo High School won the boys’ sweepstakes race with a three-mile time of 13:58 and Brie Oakley from Grandview High School won the girls’ in 15:53. Column: Elementary's Mile-Loop Inspires Lifelong Love of RunningBY JESSICA LOPEZ
I love to run. I started running at seven years old at my elementary school’s morning run club. We would run the same one-mile loop around our grass field every morning. I remember thinking to myself that it was the hardest thing in the world when, in reality, that one mile loop was nothing compared to what I do today. I am part of Citrus Valley’s cross country team and it would be a miracle if the team just had to run one mile and call it a day... |
